The 2019 GT Cup championship kicks off this weekend at Donington Park – the first of two visits to the Derbyshire circuit for the series. However, changes to the season calendar now sees the championship gaining a third visit to Snetterton as the Silverstone National round disappears from the listings due to resurfacing at the troubled Northamptonshire track.
After the season opener, two consecutive visits to Snetterton follow, one in May and one in late July following an early summer break. The loss of the first Silverstone round from the calendar means teams then get to enjoy a second break as the championship doesn’t return to the track until mid-August – a visit to the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. It’s then down to Kent for a few races at the legendary Brands Hatch on the 31st August/1st of September.
Two more events remain after Brands Hatch, with a return to Donington Park first up as the series takes on the full Grand Prix circuit on the 21st and 22nd of September. October holds the final round as the season finale now sees the championship return to Norfolk for a headline event at Snetterton on the 300 layout. Teams, drivers and fans alike may have to wrap up warm as the finale kicks off on the 25th of October.
