After finishing second in last year’s GTB Championship, Tom and James Webb are returning to the GT Cup for the 2019 season. This will mark the brothers’ fifth year in the championship, having joined back in 2015.
It’s been an interesting career for the Webb brothers so far in GT Cup, with plenty of race wins and the GTB Group Championship title in 2016. Though it’s not always been so rosy, engine troubles plagued the BMW during the start of last season causing the team to miss several races. Despite that and switching groups part way through the season, the Webbs racked up an impressive 13 group wins.
It’s a clean slate for the team however for 2019, as the BMW E46 M3 GTR that we’ve seen for the past couple of seasons is being swapped out for a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo. And with a new car, comes a new group – the Webb’s will be competing in GTC for the first time.
“We are both looking forward to the start of the season after what feels like a long break from racing!” Said James Webb. “Our first test in our new car has been very positive and we cannot wait to start unlocking its potential as we come to understand it more.”
“GTS Motorsport have done a great job getting the car ready for the start of the season and we hope to be on the pace from the first round at Donington Park on the 13th of April.”
