James Hilliard

From an early age, James caught the motorsport bug from his father and uncle. This passion was further ignited when he joined the Porsche Specialist Charles Ivey as a budding engineer. Charles Ivey not only carved for himself a place in London Porsche folklore, but in the ’60s continued his Tasmanian racing involvement, by forming under the Charles Ivey banner, a Le Mans privateer team. Naturally, all of this inspired the young James to take to the circuit. Initially, James began his racing career successfully driving Porsches, in the Porsche Club Great Britain, Cup and Classic.

2014 James decided to sell his race car. At the same time, the embryonic Feathers Motor Sport (FMS) was looking for a race car. Having purchased James race-prepared Porsche 968 Club Sport, FMS required not only a second driver but a race preparer who could provide circuit support. James already a seasoned race driver, was also a partner in the Porsche Specialist NineX, ticking all the boxes. James started racing for the team and in 2015 he won the AMOC Intermarque Drivers Championship for FMS in the Porsche 968CS.

In 2016, now running for FMS three race prepared Porsche 968 CS, he won for the second time the AMOC Intermarque Drivers Championship.

James has also campaigned the FMS historic Ginetta G10 at Goodwood and various events across Europe with much success, producing wins, poles, and fastest laps.

2019 FMS and James progressed to a different Sportscar racing level, exchanging their three Porsche 968CS for a Ginetta G55 GT4 car. James immediately proved successful in the AMOC GT Challenge with a pole and win in the first two races. Then in September of 2019, a one-off GT Cup weekend at Donington Park; finishing on the podiums whetted the team’s appetite for a full campaign in 2020.

“Racing in the 2020 GT Cup is an exciting challenge, for which I am very much looking forward. Hopefully, we will be able to replicate the team’s past success in a very different and demanding environment. My thanks to the team for this opportunity”
