Experienced GT Racer Jim Geddie celebrated an impressive double victory and a momentous first UK win for the McLaren MP4-12c GT3 in round five of the GT Cup Championship at Oulton Park last weekend.
The event marked the long awaited debut of the McLaren MP4-12c GT3 in the GT Cup Championship, and the return to competition for reigning British GT Champion, Jim Geddie.
Geddie claimed pole position for the McLaren but had a battle on his hands in race one as the Porsche 935 of Richard Chamberlain and the Championship leading Ferrari 458 of Derek Johnston fought hard or the lead. After a thrilling 25-minute sprint race, Geddie surged ahead to claim the win, and backed it up with a second victory from pole position in race two.
Jim Geddie commented "It was a great weekend from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed being back in the GT Cup paddock, it has taken us longer than we hoped to get the car but but it is great to get the win. McLaren are working with us and we're looking forward to doing a few more rounds of the GT Cup Championship with the car."
The next round of the GT Cup Championship will take place at Brands Hatch on the 18th and 19th August and marks the sixth round of the 2012 Championship.
